Coaching Application
Please fill out this Coaching Application to express your interest in coaching one of the the Helena Bighorns teams for the 2026/27 season.
This application will allow you to share your experience, strengths, coaching philosophy and other pertinent details about yourself.
Deadlines for Coaching Applications:
Division Head Coach - June 14th, 2026
Team Head Coach - June 30th, 2026
Assistant Coach - applications will be collected until the start of the season.
When
The season is October into March, with tryouts taking place August 3rd-5th.
Division Head Coaches and Team Head Coaches will be selected by the Board.
Division & Team Head Coaches will then select their Assistant Coaches.
Please note: a submitted application is not a guarantee of a spot on the coaching staff.

6U - 2020 to 2022
8U - 2018 to 2019
10U - 2016 to 2017
12U - 2014 to 2015
14U - 2012 to 2013
14U/19U Girls - 2008 to 2017
High School - 2007 to 2011
House Hockey - 2007 to 2017
Where
Practices will be held at Steed Arena in Helena, MT.
COACHING REQUIREMENTS
The above are required before stepping on the ice (with the exception of the CEP Clinics)

Please note acknowledgement of the Coaches Code of Conduct is required before an application can be submitted.
All coaches should be familiar with the HAYHA Vision, Mission Statement, and Core Values
USA Hockey fees are to be paid by Coaches; reimbursement can be requested after completing:
- Background Screening (once every two years)
- SafeSport Training
- Age Specific Module(s) Trainings
- Concussion Protocol Acknowledgement
- USA Hockey Registration (USA Hockey Number)
- USA Hockey CEP Certification
